By nine the street was busy and by ten it was impassable. A single lamp lit the corridor, and it flickered whenever the lift moved. The path narrowed where the hedge had been left to grow wild. The result was untidy but entirely serviceable.

Nobody expected the meeting to last more than twenty minutes. A hairline scratch on the lens showed up in every photograph taken that year. She kept the receipts in a shoebox because the filing cabinet had stopped closing properly. The result was pinned up where everyone could see it.

He arrived early, which set the tone for the rest of the day. The list grew faster than anything could be crossed off it. The seedlings went in a week late and caught up by June anyway. Somehow, that was the end of it.

About the Random Paragraph Generator

Each paragraph is assembled from four written sentences: an opening line, two middle lines pulled from a pool of 91, and a closing line. Every sentence is real English about ordinary things, kettles, timetables, roofs and weather, so the block reads like prose rather than the scrambled Latin most placeholder tools produce.

The result is deliberately loose in meaning. Because the middle sentences are drawn independently, a paragraph tells no single story, and that is what makes it safe as filler: nobody skims it and thinks it is finished copy waiting to be published. What it does give you is the right texture. Sentence lengths vary between six and eighteen words, so line breaks, hyphenation and ragged edges behave the way they will with real text.

Use it to check how a layout copes with a long block, to practise typing on words that are not nonsense, or to give a writing group a paragraph to rewrite properly. If you want the classic filler look instead, use the Lorem Ipsum Generator. For single lines rather than blocks, the Random Sentence Generator uses the same sentence pool.

Common questions

How long is each paragraph?
Four sentences, usually between 45 and 70 words, which is a typical body paragraph in web copy.
Will two paragraphs ever be identical?
With no repeats on, identical paragraphs are filtered out, and the number of possible combinations is well into the millions.
Is this better than lorem ipsum?
For readability tests, yes, because reviewers can judge line length and rhythm on real words. For hiding the meaning of a mock-up, Latin is still safer.
Do the paragraphs make sense as a story?
Not deliberately. Sentences are picked independently, so the paragraph has the shape of prose without a continuous narrative.
