About the Random TSV Generator

Each generated row carries seven tab separated columns in a fixed order: an account id between 1000 and 9999, a full name, an email address, a city, a country, a signup date somewhere in 2021 to 2026, and a spend figure between 1 and 480. Nothing is quoted and no field contains a tab or a line break, so the file parses cleanly in Excel, Google Sheets, pandas and any TSV reader you point at it.

TSV suits this kind of sample data better than comma separated output because names and city names never need escaping. There is no ambiguity about whether a comma inside a value is a separator, which is exactly the sort of edge case that makes a test fixture unreliable. The city and country columns are drawn as a matched pair from a list of eighty real places, so a row never claims that Kyoto sits in Brazil, and the people are invented rather than borrowed from anyone. Every email domain is a reserved example name such as example.com, which cannot receive mail.

The generator emits data rows only. Add your own header line, for example id, name, email, city, country, signup_date, spend with tabs between the fields, if your importer expects one. To turn the result into another format afterwards, pass it through TSV to CSV or TSV to JSON, or start from the Random CSV Generator when you need control over the column list.

How to use

  1. Set Rows to the number of records you need, up to 500.
  2. Leave No duplicate rows ticked so every record in the fixture is distinct.
  3. Press Generate, then copy the block or download it as a .tsv file.
  4. Paste your own header line above the rows if the importer you are testing expects one.

Common questions

Which columns does it produce?
Seven, always in this order: id, name, email, city, country, signup date and spend. The order is fixed so the output is predictable.
Does it include a header row?
No, only data rows. Paste your own header line above them if your importer needs one.
Are the email addresses real?
No. They use reserved example domains that cannot receive mail, so nothing you generate can reach a real inbox.
Can I choose different columns?
Not here, the layout is fixed. Use the Random CSV generator, which lets you name the fields, then convert its output with CSV to TSV.
Will the values open correctly in Excel?
Yes. No field contains a tab, a quote or a newline, so each row splits into exactly seven cells.
